Regional Field Service Technician

This position will be responsible for autonomous customer relationship management through the effective use of technical knowledge to install, troubleshoot, service, and maintain equipment at customer sites; generate service revenue, keep records and create reports of maintenance, repairs and required updates of equipment and services with adherence to state and federal regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
  • Establish rapport with customers
  • Provide appropriate, timely, and regular communications to customers and internal key stakeholders regarding customer and equipment issues
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency to independently identify and assist in the identification and resolution of customer issues. Follow the appropriate escalation process if necessary
  • Install equipment using procedures set by manufacturer specifications
  • Inspect and test malfunctioning medical and related equipment (surgical lights, tables, and booms) using test and analysis instruments. Disassemble malfunctioning equipment and repair or replace defective mechanical, hydraulic and electrical parts
  • Remotely perform service work by providing telephone, remote technical support, and remote diagnostics to external healthcare customers to resolve customer equipment issues and initiate escalation, if appropriate
  • Maintain factory certification and proficiency on all servicing product lines
  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain fiber optic low voltage, and media cables. Measure signal strength to ensure adequate performance
  • Generate revenue growth by offering solutions aligned with the service portfolio
  • Perform all administrative duties within Skytron’s quality management system time frames including service work orders, expense reports, preventative maintenance, installation documents, site and service documentation, and other related paperwork
  • Seek out opportunities to increase capability and capacity (i.e. may be required to become qualified in multiple modalities, learns new tools)
  • Understands and applies knowledge to install, diagnose, and repair medical devices and equipment; working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and AC/DC electrical systems, functions and uses
  • Troubleshooting, diagnostic repair, and maintenance of steam supplied sterilization equipment used in a healthcare environment including rack washers, ultrasonic consoles, and autoclaves
  • Installation of cable and equipment associated with video switching systems including cable routing and management, testing, termination, and troubleshooting
  • Follows product and work instructions, policies, and procedures
  • Strong organizational skills, self-disciplined and the ability to work independently
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various levels of employees and customers both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to adapt to changing work requirements in a complex, fast pace environment
  • The incumbent is held responsible to maintain a productive schedule, timeline, and measurable goals
  • Consistently punctual and dependable in attendance
  • Must be flexible in working hours as this position will require customer support during non-regular business hours, mandatory overtime on short notice, and/or weekend work as necessary
  • Follows established procedures for completing work tasks. Demonstrates a good balance of productivity and quality of work. Does not rely on others to check the quality of work
Education, Training, and Licensure/ Certification
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associate Degree in electronics or equivalent combination of education and experience in the electronics industry preferred
  • AAMI CBMET certification preferred
  • Microsoft Operation platforms such as MS Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Good creditworthiness
  • Maintain a good driving record and valid driver’s license
  • Subject to a background check and credentialing
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and site drawings without assistance
  • Understand and apply hydraulic, mechanical and electrical theory to install, diagnose and repair equipment including knowledge and use of all necessary tools and test equipment
  • Job operates in the hospital/medical environment and remotely from a home-office location
  • Potential exposure to hazardous physical, chemical, radiological and biological agents and loud noise
  • May work in environments where devices producing one or more of the following may be in use: high levels of radiation, high magnetic fields, high voltages, compressed and liquefied gases, radioactive and biohazardous materials. Strict adherence to corporate and site safety procedures is mandatory
  • Frequently in contact with electrical equipment
  • Average driving is 1-4 hours daily and may exceed 50% at times. Occasional overnight stays and travel by air may be required
  • Responsible for carrying and monitoring company cellphone and being available and responsive during scheduled and non-scheduled hours
  • Must be flexible in working hours as this position will require customer support during non-regular business hours, mandatory overtime on short notice, and/or weekend work as necessary
  • May work from ladders
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds. Occasionally lift or carry up to 100 pounds
  • Frequently stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and extended reach
  • Use of personal protective equipment may be required including, but not limited to, safety glasses, hard hats, hard-toed shoes, and gloves
